**NEW** DNA Painter’s Cluster Auto Painter
Jonny Perl of DNA Painter just announced a new tool: Cluster Auto Painter or CAP. Basically, this tool lets you use clusters to “paint” the segments of your DNA matches! Unfortunately, this tool does not work with Ancestry.com since it does not include a chromosome browser.
You can find Jonny’s instructions in a blog post here.
Example: 23andMe AutoCluster
To try this new tool, I used Genetic Affairs and ran a Default AutoCluster with my 23andMe matches. With a range of 250 to 50 cM, the AutoCluster created 6 clusters. (NOTE: I have removed the names from the top and side of this chart.)
Cluster Auto Paint (CAP)
Next, I easily used the html file in DNA Painter to “paint” these clusters! You can see the 6 clusters painted on the chromosomes below:
If I click on the small key in the lower right-hand corner, I can select just one cluster to look at. For example, below I’m looking at cluster 2 which includes DNA from 5 people.
Unfortunately, I have not worked very much with my matches from 23andMe and don’t know how these matches are related to me. So, I have some work to do! But, this is a powerful and exciting new tool!
Thanks, Jonny!
